Russia and Japan will meet for the Kuril and gas

For Japan, there is a question relating to disputed islands only with China, there is also the problem of the Kuril archipelago of four islands, which Tokyo calls the "Northern Territories" and that the Soviet Union annexed to the sovereignty at the end of World War II. It is an area surrounded by waters rich in fish and of strategic importance, because it allows the passage of Russian ships directly to the Pacific Ocean. Around this dispute and energetic character relates to matters of the visit of Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe, which takes place in Moscow, the first ten years now. Moscow and Tokyo with this meeting, plan to resume the negotiations over the Kuril Islands in order to find a peaceful solution of the issue, which has been, until now, the main obstacle to the signing of a peace treaty between the two countries. Negotiations are instructed their foreign ministers and defense, with the task of putting an end to the dispute as quickly as possible. A successful conclusion could be facilitated by the interest of the Japanese delegation, also composed of 120 businessmen, for Russian gas. This raw material has become central to the Japanese energy policy, after the renunciation of nuclear energy due to the tragic accident in Fukushima. Trade relations, will therefore represent a starting point and a model to solve an age-old question as that of the Kuril Islands, which can be taken in other similar contexts, sources of concern.
