For Merkel Israeli settlements affect the integrity of the Palestinian

The meeting between German Chancellor Merkel and Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu , even though they are in an atmosphere of cordiality , showed profound differences of views between the two countries. The harsh judgment by the German policy of colonies and thus the development of settlements in the West Bank , is the greatest distance between the two politicians . According to Merkel, the peace process can not go on without a serious negotiation that blocks the expansionism of Israel, in order to favor the two-state solution . Germany reiterates the line of Europe and joins the American intentions . To this end it is essential for the integrity Merkel and territorial continuity for the Palestinian state , provided that it is now undermined by the policy that Tel Aviv has not only stopped , but has increased its own under the guidance of governments to Netanyahu. Merkel , however, has also supported the requirement , set by Israel to be recognized by the Palestinians. This is clearly inconsistent with a solution as this condition can not be satisfied as long as the settlement policy is not stopped . In fact, this statement seemed functional German Chancellor 's visit to Israel and responded to the criteria of diplomacy , as Germany actively support the peace process and considers the mutual recognition of a basic prerequisite . The Israeli prime minister , instead place also the condition that the Palestinian state must be demilitarized , violating the requirement of parity with Israel and then introducing the desire to make Palestine a country with limited sovereignty . But the differences between the two statesmen are not restricted to the Palestinian issue , even on the Iranian nuclear issue, the differences are profound. Israel , despite the change of government effected in Tehran , the Iranian nation continues to see a risk to the integrity not only of their own state , but also for Europe, due to the development of nuclear technology . Conversely, Germany, sees an opportunity in the negotiations to release Iran isolation and to open new channels of communication , so as to avoid the confrontation with the West . At the end of the meeting represented a situation where the two countries, while striving to maintain the usual good friendships , are separated by a very wide depth of views , but Israel is a common practice , a similar situation has already seen with the United States and this condition shows more and more that without a change in foreign policy , Tel Aviv is bound to even greater isolation.
