Europe: the need to sanction Hungary

There is a clear asymmetry in the behavior that the EU has held with Greece, when compared with what is keeping with Hungary. Athens was guilty, in the assessments of Brussels, to have endangered the European economy, made up and disastrous financial data statements. It was concrete and proven faults, but you chose to charge you the greek people and not to the real responsible, with a view to punishment that was to serve as an example for other possible future situations. It was the German desire aimed at keeping the deficit continental levels within set limits in a certain way; It mattered little that these methods contribute to the general mistrust in the European institutions, giving the opportunity to populism to spread more and more and create dangerous friction between member states, which could affect the political stability of the entire system. To punish Greece has wanted to run all these risks, without giving the least in Athens a little tolerance, which could alleviate the suffering of the Greek people. Budapest, on the contrary, it allows much worse, but, for now, and is already for a long time, is tolerated in order to provide the opportunity to the Hungarian government to strengthen more and more. Hungary has become the leader of the Eastern European countries, that the orbit of the Warsaw Pact, to be incompatible with the values on which the European Union is constituted. Orban, the Conservative prime minister, won the election, shows they do not like criticism and respect for the opposition: his refusal to liberal democracy is so evident, as his liking towards attenuated democracies, such as Russia and Turkey, where the strong man's role is central, but in sharp contrast to the minimum requirements of a full democracy. So Europe located inside a kind of regime that stands in direct conflict with the obligations undertaken with the entry into the Union, but which continues to ensure the lavish economic contributions, decisive for the growth of the country. It must be recalled that the main Hungarian revenues are precisely the contributions derived from fees paid by the German, French citizens, Italian and other European states, which allow, in addition to the aforementioned growing economy, also to keep state finances in order. The insults to foreign governments, including the Italian one, are serious, but they are less important than the serious internal situation of political and social rights, more and more compressed, as they are less severe for the refusal to accept refugees, in the name of an illogical and conservatism irrational. It must, however, be noted, that the Government of Hungary has been able to act almost undisturbed, beyond a few comments to be filled. Brussels has never taken any official action of complaint regarding the conduct of the Orban government, and even the European people's parties group has never acted against the political party that leads the Hungarian country, keeping it inside. Orban denounces what he considers excessive European interference in the internal affairs of his country, comparing the action of the USSR against Hungary of the 50s of last century, when the Soviet repression stifled in blood the uprising in Budapest. Brussels must make a serious analysis of its behavior and its objectives, and to ask whether states such as Hungary Orban should remain inside, thwarting the unification of our continent and encouraging the eurosceptics and populists, ultimately leading to the dissolution of same the Union up to now built with many difficulties and conflicts. The EU must finally take on a behavior which must prove not to suffer more the political action of the countries concerned for the sole economic contributions, but who do not share its founding principles. It seems to have arrived inevitably become time to take punitive policies, including economic sanctions, acting on the curtailment of cohesion funds, to even get to delete, on the reduction of the right and the voting arrangements in the European Councils and also include expulsion Union for those who do not fit the requirements to remain there. It must, that is, go from too inclusive politics, who admitted in almost indiscriminately virtually all countries that have requested it, with few exceptions, to a more selective policy, both on accessions that stays on the inside of ' Union. special reasons must be set aside, as economic ones in Berlin, which has always shown openness to the Eastern countries to expand their market or like those of the Atlantic Alliance, which through Europe, has acted and continues to act in an anti Russian function , an objective that can be shared, but that should not be a requirement able to overtake other and more important values, from which it is clear, it is less and less possible to give due importance. The European Union can do without all those countries that do not want to adapt to its values: so how will he give up the UK, it will be even easier to do by hand of the eastern countries. This can be the starting point for a European renaissance, based on political and social values that put citizens at the center and thus a reduction of the importance of too considered economic and financial standards, essential step to regain the trust of the population and reduce the pressure of populist movements.
