Behind the help of Egypt, the contrast between Saudi Arabia and Qatar
Behind the new substantial economic aid to Egypt, from Saudi Arabia , lies a whole lotta internal to the Gulf monarchies , which on the fate of the Arab Spring and the role of the Muslim Brotherhood think in opposite ways . The Egyptian economy is going through a very difficult period , after three years of political instability , which have affected both investment and the revenue from tourism . In the past year the aid of Saudi Arabia to Egypt, introns were around to 5,000 million dollars , while the new package would amount to about four billion dollars. Through these financial contributions , Saudi Arabia show your appreciation for the military government that has curbed the power of the Muslim Brotherhood . For Saudi is an investment so that the contagion of what is considered a drift confessional does not spread its territory. Saudi has never condemned the repressive system operated by the Egyptian military , showing substantially agree with the methods adopted , including , even , the outlawing of brotherhood. Despite being a state founded on religion deeply , what Saudi wants to avoid is a reinterpretation of the admixture of political and religious beliefs , their own Muslim Brotherhood , which could undermine the current system of government , based on a strict hierarchical division of society and with the power firmly in the hands well defined. On opposite sides there is , instead , Qatar , which is in favor of the growing influence of the Muslim Brotherhood and their ability to penetrate political systems. It is no coincidence that Al Jazeera , what is considered the most influential television in the Arab world , with its headquarters in Qatar and funded by the local government , has become practically the official voice of the Muslim Brotherhood . No wonder that in Cairo twenty journalists are on trial in Egypt of the issuer , for dissemination of news you do not like the government of the armed forces . The picture that is emerging is that such a comparison, at a distance, but more and more tight , between Saudi Arabia and Qatar , which has always allies , on the future of the Sunni movement . But while Qatar appears to develop a policy, even aggressive through the funding of extremist groups , who want to promote the political rise of confessional groups , Saudi Arabia is opposed to this vision , which could disrupt the social relations in the country. In this match Saudi Arabia is playing a role essentially conservative, while Qatar , thanks to the huge disposable income, looking for a role as prime actor in the political landscape . The aim is to enhance the prestige and influence of the small nation especially against the Sunni Muslim world that is recognized as beneficial to a bond firmly in the political sphere with the religious one, in a manner not static but dynamic , that is capable to intercept the consensus of the masses of the Muslim world . It remains to be seen whether this pattern is also applicable in Qatar, or if the country wants to export only for his own use and consumption.
