European Union: firmness with Turkey must also be applied to the states already members of Brussels

Further moves away Turkey's possible entry into Europe. The words of President of the European Commission, Juncker, are likely to put an end to Ankara's project of joining the European Union due to the increasing restrictions on the law and the authoritarian dictatorship imposed on President Erdogan by the country. This is a widely anticipated epilogue, which does not seem to leave room for maneuver to Turkish ambitions. It must be specified that if Turkey never abandoned its purpose of being part of Brussels, in the reality of things, authoritarianism, denial of civil and social rights, and the increasingly invasive confessional presence in politics, had already decreed time the inconsistency between two parts that are too far away. It will now be interesting to see what developments will take the Turkish situation as a result of this rejection: Ankara could use various retaliation instruments against Europe, first of all the regulation of migrant traffic, followed by economic reparations, but above all Following a foreign policy ondivaga, the country risks international isolation, which has sought to fill hugging Sunni cause and approaching Saudi Arabia and Egypt. This is a remarkable reshuffle for a country that wanted to be the first Muslim nation to enter Europe. Juncker's statement is also important because it seems to open a way of greater rigidity in the rules for joining the union; the President of the European Commission has said that Europe will increase its members, but only those who will be able to guarantee the rules necessary to ensure a rule of law will be accepted. The explicit reference to freedom of the press, as a requirement to join the union, was not only directed to the Turkish state, but implicitly, also to Hungary and Poland. If the rigidity, which is to be applied to examine the democratic requirements of the states that intend to enter Europe, may extend to those who are already part of Brussels, it will be good news and Europe will face scenarios new. The crucial point is the stay within the union of those countries that violate Community principles and rules, especially in the field of rights; we do not understand why the barracks that are being applied to Turkey to justify refusing to enter Europe can not be valid for those states that are already members, but contradict European norms in order to move them from Brussels. The rule of inclusiveness at all costs, which has justified admirable access not only for incoming countries, but also for economic powers, which have increased the commercial opportunities and the labor market, must be overcome by more qualitative criteria , which must give priority to the enthusiasm of the countries firmly convinced of the common European project, its standards of democracy and mutual assistance between the states. If these requirements are not present or fail, it seems useless to establish only convenience ratios destined to become sources of conflict and division. If these principles are the basis for inclusion in Europe, they must also be in the continuation of the relationship, which must be verified in a timely and constant manner on the attitudes of the laws and behaviors of individual states governments to the freely subscribed principles. The anticipation of an increasing range of sanctions based on the severity of the violations should not be a taboo but of certain and certain sanctioning measures for those who do not adhere to EU principles; these sanctions must also include, as a maximum, the expulsion from the union and all its advantages. Brussels has shown itself to be too overjoyed with those who only wanted to have positive things from union: now is the time to change in favor of greater firmness, as is the case with Turkey, in order to avoid dangerous alterations of the Community balances.
