Colombia becomes a member of the Atlantic Alliance

Colombia is preparing to become the first Latin American country to enter the Atlantic Alliance and the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development. The goal is considered in the Colombian country a reason for pride and a starting point for the development of the country, in a privileged framework for relations with the West. Probably the end of the internal war was decisive with the movement of the revolutionary armed forces of Colombia, a conflict that has provoked a state of instability in the country that has lasted for many years. The effects of the agreement, signed about a year ago, have certainly been verified by the Alliance Atlantic Council, which has verified the positive and certain effects of the internal situation of Colombia, on the other hand without the agreement in question would have been impossible admission within the Atlantic Alliance. From the strategic point of view for the Atlantic Alliance and, in general, for the West, the entry of Colombia allows to position itself in the South American continent with a preventive function of a possible Chinese and Russian expansion, but above all, in the immediate, allows the control of the borders with Venezuela in great political crisis and that could potentially enter the sphere of Russian influence. For the West, limiting the contagious effects of the Venezuelan crisis becomes of primary importance to continue to maintain a more or less indirect collaboration with the South American countries, which could soon become the protagonists of economic expansion, following what has already happened in Brazil. For Colombia, hopes are to obtain easier access to foreign investments, capable of increasing the wealth of the country, thanks to the prestige obtained with the entry into the Atlantic Alliance. A goal, which can become even more concrete, thanks to the admission in the Organization for cooperation and economic development; for Bogotà it is essential to reduce poverty to encourage greater redistribution of income and a consequent stronger social inclusion, which must guarantee the country new elements of social disagreement, which could reopen terrorist solutions. To complete this process, Colombia has faced structural reforms of the public administration, which have had to overcome the findings of numerous experts. Colombia, therefore, presents itself with a higher standard of the administration of public affairs and stands as the next leading country on the South American continent.
