The U.S. Secretary of State visit to Moscow

In a period filled with themes of international politics, the visit to Moscow of the Secretary of State of the United States, John Kerry, it becomes an event that promises to be crucial to the issues on the table. The meeting comes at a time of tension between the two superpowers, which have seen disrupt their relations after the rise to power of Putin, who has pride in Russia one of the cornerstones of its policy, relying on their rivalry with the U.S. since the days of the Soviet empire. The main issues concern the bilateral Syria, North Korea, Afghanistan and also the Chechen problem, returned to the fore after the attack in Boston. On Syria are the main sources of disagreement between the two countries, given that Moscow remains one of the last allies of Damascus, although for their own interests related to the only Russian naval base present in the Mediterranean, situated right in Syrian waters. Best prospects are on the subject of Iran, given that Russia does not like nuclear proliferation in a country relatively close, just as there are similar views on the issue of North Korea. More problematic talks on the issue of human rights in Russia, from which no particular results expected, especially after the Kremlin, among many foreign charities closed on charges of interference, has put an end to the activity of the agency U.S. Agency for International Development. Other voltages comprise prohibiting the adoption of Russian children by Americans, in retaliation because of the publication from Washington's list of government officials in Moscow, found guilty of the death in custody of a well-known Russian lawyer against corruption. Despite the great differences both countries feel the need for an ongoing dialogue on the major issues of foreign policy, and to develop an ongoing collaboration to increase. In this regard, the recent agreement of cooperation against terrorism, signed after the events in Boston, will serve as a good basis for further forms of partnership.
