Afghanistan to the presidential election of 2014

The Afghan presidential election will be held April 5, 2014, but only now the incumbent president, Karzai signed the regulations which govern the conduct. Central point and urgent is the establishment of an electoral commission to certify the soundness of the electoral operations. It is a point on which there is profound disagreement due to the methods of selection of members who will be part of the committee. In the last election the majority of observers were foreigners, and had found that one-third of votes for Karzai were not actually valid. The new committee will be composed exclusively by Afghans, and the fear of the opposition is that the incumbent president trying to influence the composition through the inclusion of relatives or otherwise belonging to the family clan. The perception that the country has Karzai is not positive, despite having distanced itself from NATO, the president continues to be approached and perceived as a pawn of the United States, also the case of Kabul Bank, which saw members of his family involved in cases of embezzlement has increased the aversion popular. Moreover, the phenomenon of corruption certainly weigh in the electoral competition, both as an active element, the cases of involvement of election officials, who as passive element, that is, the influence of the judgment on the choice of the candidate based on its degree of corruption. The opposition, which appears fragmented, to have hopes of winning must implement a tactic similar to that practiced by the Iranian moderates, ie overcome its internal divisions and to converge the votes on a single candidate. This option would also allow a greater composition of a multi-ethnic government, was deemed more favorable to manage the withdrawal of NATO troops, their expected for 2014. The main movement of opposition forces is the National Front of Afghanistan, which began as a union of parties in the north of the country has been able to involve representatives Pashtun. According to local sources the National Front could declare their candidate within one month, and then focused on the election campaign.
