Karzai's visit to Pakistan

The visit by Afghan President Karzai is doing in Pakistan, to meet the new president Nawaz Sharif, is of great importance for the development of dialogue with the Taliban, in order to regularize relations with Islamic radicals. The government in Islamabad will be required for the release of Taliban prisoners in Pakistan in order to create a consistent basis for peace talks. Karzai's strategy is aimed at all make up for the departure of the contingent and NATO should develop in two directions, which provides for bilateral cooperation agreements with Pakistan and development of dialogue with Taliban insurgents to arrive at the definition of a peaceful coexistence. To support this last aspect the Afghan president plans to ask for the release of Islamic fighters as a sign of good will to open a line of dialogue with the insurgents. Last year, 26 were the Taliban issued by the previous government of Pakistan, but the change of executive resulted from the new elections could be less compliant and use the application as a term of Afghan negotiations to block or at least complicate the approach that has been profiled among Kabul and India. For Pakistan it is important to take a position of strategic importance in the region and one of the arguments used in the election campaign was the removal of the military alliance with the United States, never seen in a positive way by the majority of the population, but with the intention to maintain the cooperation with Washington in other forms, do not miss the massive U.S. financial aid is essential to transform the country's economy from a difficult condition to an advanced development as in other states of the Asian continent. To achieve this understanding, which has been a central topic in the election campaign that took him to victory, Sharif must find a definition of the issues posed by the presence of numerous clans who occupy areas on the border with Afghanistan, which could expand the phenomenon of religious terrorism even in the country of Pakistan, Kabul in the case were to go into the hands of the Taliban. The need for long-term stability and safety concerns, so not only in Kabul but also sharply Islamabad: both must find a solution that will allow an agreement between the Karzai government and the Taliban to bring peace to a region that simultaneously influence the lives of the two states. At the same time the greatest difficulty for the government in Kabul is constituted by the refusal of the Taliban to recognize it as legitimate organizations and for this reason, Karzai needs to find a partner able to exert its power and influence, to join him in difficult task of baste the peace process. Islamabad has all the requirements to respond to this need and is also interested in first person in the successful outcome of negotiations not to be involved, more than what is already in the question Taliban. It must be said that Afghanistan is obliged to engage in negotiations on several fronts, including those previously not particularly welcome, just as Pakistan, to try to deal with the withdrawal of NATO troops from a position of greater peace of mind. As well the abandonment military, then, another effect of the gradual withdrawal decided by Obama will be to change contacts and diplomatic balances regional, forcing the states of the area to find common and shared solutions.
