The failure of the political model founded on Islamism
The allegations, from Turkey, which indicate Israel of being behind the rise of the military in Egypt, do not seem true, but give the right measure of the climate that reigns in those countries that were hoping for a lasting settlement of a sectarian government in a important country like Egypt. The actual defeat of the Muslim Brotherhood is the failure of a pan-Arab project of long-term, which was to lead to the spread of a political model in which, albeit to varying degrees, Islamic law was going to be the fundamental law of the respective countries. Unofficial leader of this project was Turkey, which frustrated by the refusal of the EU, has embarked on a policy, both domestic and international, that it becomes a reference point for those countries, especially from the experience of the Arab Spring, which have registered in the electoral victory of formations that appeal to the Islamic religion. The turkish government has accentuated their religious positions in the social life in a state where the secular component is widespread and that, in habits and customs, approaches distinctly Western ways of life. This decision, while also arousing violent debates in Turkish society and the country further away from the always coveted admission within the European Union, has been registered as a clear signal as a reference for many nations, freed from long-standing dictatorships, embracing, thanks to his victory at the polls, government-inspired Islamic confessional. Moreover, until the recent developments, Turkey, thanks to its economic success, was regarded by the West and especially the U.S., a sort of political laboratory, where a moderate Islam, at the apex of political power, could coexist with a company that had substantial parts of secularism.
In this context, the burden of Egypt, however, had to be even more decisive, for its influence in the Arab world, the land of the pyramids, even despite the current difficult economic situation, something that sets it apart in the current period from Turkey, could not missing in the territorial continuity of Islamic governments, which developed in the southern part of the Mediterranean Sea. In fact, a successful government supported by the Muslim Brotherhood in a large country like Egypt, would have been the best advertisement for the political model that was developing. Conversely, the failure that has made military intervention caused by inability to undertake a government policy aimed at solving the current problems of the country, instead of which has been practiced one tense action only to engage the Muslim principles in the laws of the state , can lead to serious reflection also other peoples, who have traveled similar roads. From the point of view of compliance with the totality of the social fabric and the different trends that have led to the overthrow of Mubarak, the failure was total, because not only are you protected minorities, but we proceeded uniquely, establishing a new regime, this time of a religious, which revealed the poor attitude of the democratic Islamic political formations. This model still has a future? Difficult to give an affirmative answer: the total Egyptian crisis, the turmoil in other countries such as Tunisia, the demonstrations in Turkey itself, they say that this political model is not shared by his radicalism, which is its weakest point. If, on the one hand, could not be inclusive, involving in their respective countries where it was adopted, the totality of the social body, a necessary condition for the success they desired through its own characteristics, on the other hand, little or no flexibility and the lack of ability to engage in dialogue with other political forces decreed the inadequacy within democratic systems. Nor is it simply the objection of the electoral victory, because in a democracy the winner does not take all, because the power must be properly balanced, betrayed an absolute principle. Certainly the way of the Egyptian military is not the right answer, but with this in mind the danger of a repetition of similar situations is not so remote, so much so that in Turkey the government is now worried about the containment of the armed forces.
