China and Taiwan for the first official meeting since 1949

Since the breakup of their relationship , in 1949 , there were more meetings were at the official level between China and Taiwan , and the meeting of these days, at a formal level , it can mark a resumption of dialogue at the political level between the two countries. In fact the two economies need each other and worked together for some time through non-governmental agencies , albeit controlled by their respective governments . The meeting, therefore , has its value only on the official plan , which completes the unofficial , but real. The summit took place at the level of deputy ministers , and almost at the peak of the hierarchy and had as its headquarters the city of Nanjing , a symbol because it was the capital of the nationalist regime in the first fifty years of the twentieth century. China considers the island of Formosa province and has as its goal the reunion with the mother country , while the population of Taiwan , the feeling is almost complete to maintain their independence. With these premises, the summit has not unlocked any situation in relations between the two countries and their diplomats have postponed to a future unquantifiable the signing of a peace treaty or even possible reunification. However, the fact that the meetings at the official level is judged unanimously to be taken as a good thing, certainly capable of preventing definitely moments of tension experienced in the nineties of the last century , when the armed forces of the two countries were ready to battle it . The economic situation has instead created the conditions for a partnership that allows for peace , though unofficial , was never signed an armistice between the two states, between the two countries , which have established a modus vivendi based on mutual convenience . This link is better understood with the data of Taiwan's exports to China , which amounted to 40 % of the total foreign investment that are eighty per cent of its total capital invested in Beijing. In addition, the high-tech industries in Taiwan, those with higher margins , such as Acer , Asus and Foxconn HTC , use more Chinese labor thanks to the work of the workers in their factories in China, which employees of Formosa . We also understand how Taiwan has the need to confront Beijing showing an approach , although some analysts say this move is a false indication of the real intentions of the country, pointing to remain well separated from the Republic of China. But there is also another aspect that has led to this summit and is now enjoyed by small recognition of Taiwan as an independent state : there are currently only a dozen countries that recognize this status to the island of Formosa and the cautious approach to China to explain in the sense of the need to restore better relations with its powerful neighbor .
