Ukraine: the lost opportunity from Beijing to address change in international politics

The attitude of China on the question of Ukrainian appears very cautious . Beijing does not differ from its principle of international policy that puts into practice the non-interference in the internal affairs of states, however, this predicament could be an opportunity for China to increase its international prestige, that is the real weak point in its ambitions great power . The fact that Russia is one of the protagonists of the matter turns out to be an obstacle , since the two states, in international affairs , they often assumed the same address. These two aspects , that of the international non-interference and the relationship with Moscow, Beijing to prevent discontinue its line of prudence and to rise to a level of involvement that would justify the role of the second international power . China is not required to side with one hand, rather than with each other, it would be enough to intervene in a mediating role , which, indeed , would be even more important in the eyes of the international scene . But the Chinese reluctance to go beyond the official statements, guided by common sense and the use of diplomatic means to resolve the crisis , shows how the international obstacle still represents a point of great weakness to actually become a great power. After the great strides made in the economic field , industrialization and the expansion of the army , the side of diplomacy continues to be the weak link in the system. For now, China has pursued a policy of expansion towards the poorest areas in Africa or Asia, but rich in raw materials or of great potential merchantable in these territories diplomatic action was realized on the basis of business relationships , but Chinese diplomatic apparatus has never wanted to challenge themselves in the first person with the international crisis or humanitarian , not even in the role of mediator , this lack denotes an inherent weakness in the system of Chinese power high-level who can not free themselves from what seems to go beyond the specific desire to remain outside of diplomatic disputes . In the particular case of the Ukraine crisis , there is also a fear that Russia could mean a support for the support of the Russian minority in the country of Ukraine, Crimea legitimately considering the territory of Kiev, an attitude openly at odds with the Chinese domestic politics , which discourages feelings of independence of minorities on its territory, such as the Tibetans and the Uighurs . A situation that could lead to the dissolution of the People's Republic of China in a way similar to what happened to the USSR itself . China, on the other hand, can not be seen in the approach to the crisis in Ukraine, given by Western countries , because he considers flawed by an even conditioned by aspects of the Cold War and the bipolar and therefore too Manichean . Beijing is thus in a position to second floor, which clashes with his ambition of great power, missing the chance to become a star , perhaps playing a role of atypical active neutrality , both contenders before anyone else , that the headquarters of the UN Security Council.
