The Hungarian elections endanger Europe

A little over a month before the European elections , the victory of the populist and anti-European , Hungarian raises the concern about the possible outcome of the vote . Not that this statement is not expected , such as the extreme right to the French administrative , but the impression is that Brussels now await the advancing populist and anti-EU with a resignation that does not suggest anything good for the future of Europe united. The confirmation of Viktor Orban , Hungary, represents well what could happen in an institution which has failed to produce the right antibodies to prevent this contagion , taking refuge behind unnecessary bureaucratic procedures and , above all, by sacrificing the solidarity between states , in the name rigor desired by Berlin. The policy fielded by Orban is a set of populist measures mixed with authoritarian tendencies , which have undermined the role of the institutions of control, such as the Constitutional Court , scientifically weakened , the strategic employment of the judiciary and, finally, the establishment of censorship in stark contrast to the EU regulations. The electoral victory , however, was marred by a system built on purpose to favor the majority party , practically handing the majority of power in the country. It has witnessed the establishment of an oligarchy that obeys the political leader and makes his interests . Rights violations carried out by state laws, have created apprehension not only in Europe but also in the U.S. , but the EU has never reached gap penalty that could affect this degenerative process in the heart of the old continent . Brussels has proved weak and was not able to sanction Hungary , resulting in an institution unable to enforce the very principles for which it was born . The absence of regulatory measures can counter these episodes, which announce themselves more and more frequent , raises big questions about how the EU will be the next venture . The sad conclusion is that heavy use of coercive measures for the economic values , but equal firmness lacking when it comes to respect the absolute values taken as reference , namely respect for civil and democratic rights , which should be at the base, as well as minimum requirements to be part of Europe . This gap , which is becoming more and more evident , could be used as an element of convenience from the stronger countries , both politically and economically , to promote within the EU , more and worse conditions for the work , which could lead to a relocation of distances minors. The further reduction of labor costs on the same continent of Europe , which is already a widespread phenomenon , would allow large manufacturers to reduce logistics costs and raise the direct control (eg by the low distance between Germany and Hungary). If this were to succeed will the impoverishment of the producing class it would be unambiguous , both in terms of employees, that of the entrepreneurial class of low or medium level industries operating in the areas of big corporations . A sacrifice civil liberties in favor of the increase in production , however, would be a target for a very short period , which would discount the great future cost in the medium and long term. The social cost , in fact , it would be very heavy and the lack of redistribution of income , both directly , and for the services sector usually subject to cuts to finance populist measures would defeat the immediate gain of big business. To avoid this it is necessary to formulate strict criteria and sanctions to prevent abuses such as the Hungarian one , in order to ensure respect for basic rights. Predict even the expulsion of those nations that do not conform to European standards in terms of freedom, elements that should be acquired by now , should not be regarded as a hypothesis -fetched , but a safeguard for the whole EU system.
