The claims of Hong Kong put China in difficulty

The facts of Hong Kong back to the fore the issue of political and civil rights in China. The former Chinese colony, which was sold in Beijing with the formula: one state two systems, where both systems are intended to two different political systems, including what must have been in force in Hong Kong, provided for the democratic choice of the representatives of the people, it seems be denied by the summit of the Republic of China. The Communist Party, maximum and unique, manager of power in China, it can not admit a gap in the system, such as it is, in fact, the one represented by the former colony. The desire to bring the system without gradual policy of Hong Kong within the bed of the usual system of government in force in China, says that the perception of the Beijing authorities is to avoid democratic tendencies. The Chinese authorities, with the negation of what has been agreed with Britain following the transfer of the territory of the former colony to the mother country, pursuing two main objectives for the stability and the survival of his regime, which is based on the absolute denial of rights politicians. The first goal is to get back in the conduct of the state the population of Hong Kong to exercise due control. The resistance of the citizens of the former colony seems less easy to tame through the spread of consumerism that is already well beyond that of the average Chinese. But Beijing can not overdo it with too much repression as it has done on similar occasions within the natural boundaries of the state. The impression is that we will be faced with a test of strength on one side and the other aimed at a final success that Beijing could pay a high price on the international stage. On the other hand, the Chinese Communist Party, and this constitutes the second goal of denial of the agreements for the return of Hong Kong, can not tolerate a challenge so open, that could escalate into major centers of the country, where the awareness of the lack rights becomes more urgent; allow a free election in a portion of the country, certain well-defined and far from the problems of the nation, can trigger a chain reaction that can undermine the system of Chinese production, which is the real strength of China. It is not only hinder the free choice of who should handle the power, albeit in agreement with the authorities in Beijing, it is, above all, to prevent the social and civil claims find a legal basis within the Chinese political system. The issue is not trivial and has been well understood by the Beijing authorities, which could safely handle the situation in Hong Kong, if not run the risk of a widening of the claims, just on the basis of freedom that you want to deny the former British colony. What is likely to trigger, however, is a comparison of enormous scope in a country still struggling with excessive bureaucracy and the increasingly widespread corruption. Despite the efforts of the new government of China, the rate of inequality is still too high and the social discontent, despite denials of the ritual, is a factor of potential instability in the system. That Hong Kong is the biggest challenge for democracy for twenty-five years in the territory of China, and Beijing is still stuck on the systems of repression already used years earlier, no evolution has been made by the Chinese in terms of political debate. These facts also put at risk the relationship with Taiwan that seemed to start to a resumption of dialogue: the demonstrations in front of the island to China, clearly say that each box has no reason to be undertaken. It will now be interesting to see what will be the reactions of the international scene, if the West are expected sentences (always that they will not spoil relations with Beijing's interest), it will be interesting to follow as countries like Russia will be speaking about the incident with the possible strengthening of existing relationships.
