The European Union for the solution of two states: Israel and Palestine

The European Union is determined to speed up the process of the creation of a Palestinian state, a factor considered crucial to resolving the crisis between Israel and Palestine. The EU is a candidate to play a mediating role between the two sides, but the judgment of Tel Aviv may be a lack of impartiality always imputed to those who believe illegal settlements in the West Bank. This fact can not be overlooked with the trend that is developing in Europe, where Sweden has already recognized Palestine as a nation, as well as Great Britain and Ireland have already made pronouncements to that effect in their legislative bodies, while the Spain has expressed publicly its intention to follow the country of Sweden. The same representative for EU foreign policy, has made clear that the emergence of Palestine as a sovereign state is a necessity for the international scene, framed in the policy of the two states, with a view of the balance beyond the Middle East. While recognizing that the formal recognition of a state, it is not a supranational body, but to a single nation, the EU identifies the increasing willingness of European countries to opt for the recognition of Palestine, a line to be followed through his entities responsible for policy foreign to search for a solution in this regard. The clear intention seems to be to provide a more consistent foreign policy, at least in the big issues that receive the same policy, the European Union, with the aim, among others, to have a greater international weight factor that has not been sufficiently developed by the previous management. But the recognition means consider illegal settlements implanted in the West Bank by the Israeli state in the territories that were to be due just to the Palestinians. Around this question relates to the whole process that is based on the theorem of the two states over a territory. Israel has hampered this solution with a behavior which aimed to delay the closing of the negotiations, to build more clusters as possible and steal as much territory as possible to the Palestinians. Not even the Americans stopped the Israeli government from this conduct and the international isolation in which Israel has been condemned by itself, was not sufficient to resolve the issue. For the Obama administration to solve the problem between Israelis and Palestinians was a central objective of the foreign policy agenda, which was to allow the US to reduce the concentration of this problem. So it was not. The US has not been determined enough to impose its influence on Israel, which has continued unabated to violate international law. The entrance on the scene of a subject, which seems more determined than ever before, the EU, however, could lead to a new boost to the United States. The European Union is the main trading partner of Israel, but also the donor of Palestine; is therefore in a dual role that might favor it in the case of negotiations, also the fact that the correct Europe, the continent to which Israel is culturally bound, could help the peace process. However, the arrival on the scene by the EU, with these conditions, is at the same time an element of strong pressure on Israel. An example can be formed by the behavior of the European boycott goods from illegal settlements, by not applying the benefits falling trade agreements between Israel and the European Union. This sign explains better than any other how the EU should consider outside of international law settlements. It will be necessary to see if these starting points then Israel will accept the mediation, but it seems clear now that this time the EU has decided to play a greater role than in the past, and the United States itself, which, it should be remembered, come see an unexpected help in terms of the negotiation.
