Without democracy, the European Union is destined to dissolve

It is evident that the pressure at which the European Union submits Greece, lacks any respect for democracy and the will expressed by the people greek. If, on the one hand, the German attitude can be understood as practical exercise of power by the strongest component, and then from whom the direction taken, consequently from Brussels, less clear is what the other states, which have folded for one reason or another to the wishes of Berlin. For Germany, its undisputed leadership, making the citizens of other European countries most of the subjects of the Germans, must continually be imposed tough measures and rigid: this attitude, certainly not acceptable, within the logic of the alliance that has become unbalanced the European Union. Certainly less logic is virtually unconditional acceptance of the other European partners, that the Greek lesson could take occasion to make common cause against the guidelines laid from Berlin, primarily for their own economic benefit, and therefore political. One reason may be the will, purely financial, to recover their money in Athens, in more or less short. It would, however, once again a short-term vision, fully at odds with the need to plan over the long term, just to avoid the mistakes that led to the crisis. Another reason, attributable to the countries that have or are recovering from the crisis, such as Portugal and Ireland, among others, do not want to see favored Greece, compared with the treatment given to them. We are facing a myopia that prevents reverse the tendency to treat difficult cases with due mutuality and solidarity which was to be based on the European institution. The basic problem is that you look to the solution of these cases as to the punishment of bodies were seen as unique, where all are responsible for bad government decisions, but it is clear that this view is too simplistic and just wants to facilitate the analysis of who must decide the penalties, regardless of hardships faced by citizens, real victims of the rigors of Brussels, which were affected twice mismanagement of their representatives: first with the direct effects of incorrect measures within their state, then with indirect ones, that come from Brussels as a sanction than the previous ones. There is, therefore, a contradiction in terms of social justice and democracy, on which the European Union should be based on making any decision. Central bodies Europeans should rather watch first, then rather than punish, but this modus operandi has not yet been corrected and from here takes advantage of those who can establish itself only by economic values ​​best. The need for a political union is not so much to finally create a strong international player, not a minor thing though, but to curb behaviors that were not defined by legislation and that develop only with the strength of the economy. What should be encouraged is an approach to problem solving that is not perceived as the result of decisions almost oligarchic, but likely to be descended from democratic processes well defined, in which the citizen can be a crucial part. You return to Greece: the voters have expressed a clear desire on how the Greek Government must act, on the other hand one can reasonably say that those Germans should support the behavior of their leaders, the two positions are the opposite and are not to be considered political antagonisms, as national, that is determined by the country of origin; the resolution of the conflict should be a synthesis capable of determining an agreement, not an expression of the strong but takes into account the needs of the weakest. Right now you can safely say that this option in the European Union, considered the birthplace of democracy, for some example to follow, is not covered. Moreover, the case is only the most current greek: in the recent past has imposed laws parliaments Italian, Portuguese and other countries, whose citizens have seen broken their will democratically expressed.
