US and China towards greater cooperation
The Secretary of State, John Kerry, is in China to prepare the bilateral economic summit between the two countries, to be held in Washington next month and the September visit, the Chinese president in the United States. The impression is that the two countries are trying to develop a peaceful co-existence, which will allow both economic development and governing conflicts, which can potentially affect bilateral relations. The United States remains concerned about the unresolved conflict about the powers of islands and sea areas, which China claims fall under its sovereignty. It is a theme the latent danger of which has never ceased to worry the White House: China has repeatedly claimed the possession of uninhabited islands, practicing the construction of bases to obtain sovereignty and sending its naval vessels in the features of Sea disputed. In these contrasts are involved, in various capacities, several states, such as Japan, South Korea, Brunei, Taiwan, Philippines, Vietnam and Malaysia. The United States is doubly involved in the issue. One of the points considered essential by Obama for American foreign policy is precisely to preserve the routes of Southeast Asia by the advance of China; on this issue the two powers are opposed because Beijing also considers it essential for their economic development extend its influence on the eastern seas. But the US is also involved because the countries that feel threatened by the expansionist Chinese tactics include in their allies, and some are judged by the White House, particularly strategic. The danger of arriving at a comparison, it is direct or indirect, is, however, perceived as a source of danger to both countries, because, in addition to complicate international relations, can substantially affect the economy of the planet, at a time very delicate, which begin to see signs of a slight recovery. It is not of any interest to exacerbate things and the statement of Chinese President Xi Jinping, who said that the Pacific Ocean is big enough to accommodate both China and the United States, appears sufficiently explanatory of the climate that you want to establish. At this stage it is important for China to cooperate with the United States to achieve the goal of greater cooperation, through increased mutual trust should be fostered through dialogue; Beijing hopes essentially a new form of relations with Washington. This is certainly not a surrender, China will continue to try to make progress as a world power, but at the present time, an attitude of pure confrontation with the US is judged to be counterproductive; on the other hand this is the same American visual: despite being in an increasingly multipolar is no doubt that the most important powers are just the US and Chinese. In addition to the US is important to reduce any possible chance of new tensions, Washington has already worrying about the Middle East and relations with Russia, so prevails over all other matters and the chance of detente with China must be fully used . By contrast China cultivates the interest to arrive at a definition of the reasons for friction with other Asian countries involved in territorial disputes, in an absolutely agreed through diplomatic means, so as not to affect their economic performance. At the same time the Chinese objective is to try to limit the presence and the American action in the Pacific, but finding a collaboration right from the economic point of view, without resort to evidence of strength. The road is already undertaken in collaboration to combat the Ebola virus, the Iranian nuclear issue, the problem of climate change and the denuclearization of North Korea; topics are considered imported from the Chinese leadership and that are brought as an example of cooperation between the two countries in the management of major international issues. Certainly a detente between the two major world powers can ensure the entire planet conditions of prosperity, though it will see in practice on subjects very sensitive to one or the other country, as the response of the other party.
