Merkel and Hollande defend the unity of Europe with only speeches of principle

The joint speech of Chancellor Merkel and President Hollande before the European Parliament in Strasbourg was the statement of the obvious, the need, that is, to have a greater presence of the European Union within Europe itself. It could say better late than never, but do not follow their words with facts everything will once again be in vain. The two statesmen have found that in the European countries is prevailing fear and suspicion towards Brussels, and these fears have even more highlighted with the crisis of migrants, during which the European Union has made finding guilty unprepared. Limiting, however, the only motivation of the arrival of a large-scale migration, mistrust in the institution and a European looks very simplistic analysis strongly incomplete; You would result from the manner in which it was dealt with the economic crisis, which led to the impoverishment of a large section of the European population and therefore the dissatisfaction that has ballooned the phenomenon of populism. Merkel must feel some responsibility towards other countries to get in front of the parliament in an awkward position but offering a deal of high type, based, that is, on the founding values of the Union and not on mere financial calculations, but not alone, but to the side of the French ally eager to visibility almost reparation for a government deemed mediocre by many. The two heads of state, beyond the speeches fully shared, do not make a good impression: Merkel is included at the head of Europe, while Hollande, rather than being an equal partner, it seems his deputy; the rest of this exhibit, which perhaps wanted to be political, citing a greater importance of the two states over the others, appeared unseemly, just because unbalanced in exhibiting a kind of supremacy. That Germany holds this record, unofficial but effective, what is now largely discharged, but that France is adapted to this situation is a sort of novelty, which runs counter to what until now had been included, with Paris that seemed determined to balance the power of Berlin. If the speeches against the nationalist who seems to have taken the field in Europe, are widely shared, if only because no complete unity of the continent is definitely uneconomical, in an increasingly globalized world, where European unity appears as the 'only antidote against the major economic powers, the theory has to follow a totally different in practice for the administration of Brussels, marked by greater involvement of member countries and thus a real and perceivable improvement of the material conditions of life of the European social base. The privileges of the big financial groups and social groups that hold tight the greater part of European income must be broken in favor of an effective redistribution, which can also be an economic driver for the internal market. Just so you can provide the hope that Merkel believes, rightly, required to support the aspirations of the social classes that most of all they have paid the price for a crisis for which they were anything but responsible. In this way guarantee the reception and integration of migrants will be the ninth just easier and easier, but it will become truly an instrument of continental growth. Quite another to ask for further sacrifices, even if necessary, in a context of economic contraction and welfare to which the European countries subject their citizens in the name of the usual stiffness financial, functional especially the German budget. The speeches of the two leaders were applauded by the parliamentarians in Strasbourg, but in a cold, just because they did not understand, in addition to parts of principle, the practical ways to implement them; This could be interpreted as a sign of weakness, although in a general framework of low political level, and encourage even more the strength of nationalist and populist movements, in many cases seen as a last resort by a large part of the European electorate. The need for more Europe remain, but includes, among other reasons, in first place the need for a European policy equitably distributed among the member states, which must have certain legal guarantees (never admit members such as Hungary) and possibilities for sanctions which must also include the expulsion; equip the bodies of real strength, not only legislative, but above capacity of political intervention, which may overcome even state sovereignty, but without it being exercised by a single member or group of members is limited. These must be the arguments with which to conquer the European citizens not only vague speeches which never follows the real application.
