The House of Lords against the British government: a symptom of the malaise in British society

The British government suffers the first defeat in the parliament due to the vote of the House of Lords, contrary to maintain the bill for the Union's output. In particular, the upper house English wanted to protect the right of EU citizens to reside in the United Kingdom, even when the British Union will be effective output. The purpose of the vote of the House of Lords is also to protect the legal status of European workers, and this has a double meaning: it is, in fact, for the workers, but also for the protection of British companies, which might, on the contrary, a shortage of skilled labor, probably impossible to replace with local labor. It is a central point for the Conservative government, which wants a reciprocal treatment from Brussels, for the British residents on the mainland; However, for parties and movements more opposed to Europe, the protection of European citizens, especially when framed with a view to working on English soil and, therefore, that subtract jobs to citizens of the United Kingdom, has a high value symbolic, as well as practical. One of the reasons of the victory was to avoid immigration, which at first glance might seem just that of refugees, in fact the most extreme parts of European anti movements, in their view, would like to extend this prohibition to all. The question, however, as demonstrated by the vote of the House of Lords, it is not so easy to solve. Among the British companies there is a real concern about the possible lack of the European workforce, and in some sectors, such as health care, the situation would not be manageable. Hence the significance of the vote in the House of Lords passes, is the backlash suffered by the May prime minister, is the slowdown that requires the timetable for exit from Europe, but assume particular significance because it exacerbates the split of English society about exit from Europe, as the vote had already, however, highlighted. Also the fact that it was the House of Lords, which is not elective, to express themselves in this regard, stresses that the working classes and the countryside are opposed to the upper classes and the inhabitants of big cities. The government of Prime Minister May, moreover, has done nothing to mediate between these two positions and embraced right away what has emerged from the result of the referendum, thus demonstrating the will try to fill the political void spaces, ambiguous products attitude of the Labour Party, and also trying to divert the most extreme right-wing movements and in favor of a Europe out as much as possible fundamentalist. In essence, the May tried to exploit a political situation also looking to make an investment in the future, but this attitude has not taken account of most of the opposites of English society, who are the minority only by a few points. Moreover these instances from Europe rejection have not been significantly gathered by any party, thus becoming a large amount of potential votes without reference. A further factor is represented by those who are already regretting having voted for the exit from the European Union, because he understood the possible disasters that English isolation may result. The May is so determined to proceed is a road that far traced with certainty how he wants to believe, in the end, certainly the UK will come from Europe, but it will be necessary to check the price that the British company against this decision will to pay to the government and also what will be the attitude and decisions of Scotland and Northern Ireland. The impression is that May is redoing the mistake of Cameron and adopt a policy based on the short term and on the basis of the electoral choice, rather than a political action in the interest of the state. Decisions such as that of the House of Lords shows a malaise in English society, which was mitigated, while wanting to respect the outcome of the vote, looking for a solution within the wide range of possibilities available for the output from Europe and could allow increasing respect for those who had voted against the exit from Brussels. Having embarked on the most uncompromising choice seems to endanger the cohesion of the British company with possible serious repercussions on the internal balance of the country.
