The British prime minister blocks the British parliament
The British premier, to arrive at the exit of Great Britain from the European Union without agreements, involved the Queen, asking to postpone the speech to the parliament for the new government, on October 14th. In this way the English parliament would be prevented from discussing the ways of exit and any corrective measures. The measure adopted resembles a coup, as it appears in open violation of constitutional practice, because it is a provision that has never been adopted, except on the occasion of the English Civil War in 1600, which ended with the beheading of King Charles the First, who had blocked the parliament. The reactions of the British parliamentarians have been of profound disdain, because British democracy is a parliamentary democracy that is prevented from discussing a fundamental issue such as leaving the Union. English politics thus knows a new lower point in its history, but the descent does not seem to have stopped since the consultative referendum was held, on the way out of Europe. After all, the level of the current prime minister is such that one could foresee drifting such as the current one, even if it was difficult to predict such a decision. Once again the British political class has not been able to express a representative worthy of the name, continuing to entrust the country, both in the majority, and in the opposition, to personalities of increasingly poorer level, authors of indecisive policies and only capable of finding temporary and never effective solutions. The current decision, however, assumes a particular gravity because it debases the parliamentary institution, where the elected representatives of the British people sit. The current premier, in order to carry on his personal battle against Europe and in contempt of almost half of voters opposed to this decision, comes to implement a decision that cannot fail to have consequences also on a personal level. Probably the desire to go down in history as the one who brought England out of Europe and to close an issue that has been going on for too long, has led the prime minister to a clear error of assessment. Meanwhile, the pound suffers a heavy depreciation and the prospects for the British economy appear decidedly negative. The lack of agreement will have serious consequences, defined by some even catastrophic analysts, for the British economy, that no agreement with the United States, as promised by Trump, will be able to mitigate. The oppositions, but also conservatives opposed to exit without an agreement, threatened the construction of an alternative parliament and some conservatives in favor of Europe threatened to vote in distrust of the premier expressed by their party. In this way, English politics risks paralysis, but also collapse, a sort of implosion capable of bringing the country to a state of serious lack of the conditions for governability. Indeed, we must also think about the availability of a parliament, which has been suspended by its prerogatives, against a government that, sooner or later, will have to present its provisions. In addition, the credibility, already a small thing, of the British prime minister undergoes another decline due to obvious reasons, which will also have consequences in the international audience, as long as it manages to hold the office for a long time to come.
