Iran is expanding its diplomatic relations in Africa
With the diplomatic tour of Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, who will touch Benin, Niger and Ghana, confirms the interest in Africa as part of the republic of the ayatollahs. In fact the black continent is already long in the center of the international strategy of Tehran, to reduce diplomatic isolation resulting in the sanctions imposed by the UN.
Iran has already mentioned for its presence in Africa in Sudan, South Sudan, Somalia, Djibouti and Cameroon.
In all these countries has been distinguished by the support of the Islamic religion of matrix growth, through donations and famine relief or directly to the support to movements, such as Al Shabab, which operate with the aim of establishing policy of sharia.
This past October, two Iranian warships were sent to Sudan, after an Israeli air raids had destroyed a weapons factory, creating a state of tension further in the relations between the two states, in the context of the question on the construction of atomic power.
Interesting is the diplomatic action in Djibouti, home to the U.S. command for Africa, and where Tehran has recently opened its embassy, with the obvious intention of being close to American movements on the African continent.
With South Sudan, the youngest state in the world, relationships have been established for the large presence of oil within this state and that makes it a potential business partner, outside of the sanctions regime.
The current trip in Niger plays, however, according to different analysts, also the function of increasing the uranium deposits of the country Iranian. Niger is the world's fourth largest of the main component of atomic energy, whether it is used for civilian or military purposes, and its uranium should serve to replenish the reserves of Tehran, which is estimated, are clearly insufficient to bring about its nuclear program. Ahmadinejad, aware of these analyzes to a western, denying once again that Iran wants to build a nuclear device, saying that the uranium from Niger will be provided only for civilian purposes.
