John Kerry in Pakistan

The U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry in Pakistan to make his first visit to the Asian country. The appointment of Kerry in Islamabad was greeted positively, calling the head of American diplomacy a friend of Pakistan. The visit, scheduled several times previously, had suffered delays, some analysts are to be charged to the attitude highly critical of the new Pakistani government, to the use of drones in the fight against the Taliban, who often spent the Afghan border, encroaching in the territory of Islamabad, to hunt down the Islamic militias fled the side valleys of Pakistan. This will be one of the topics that will be discussed during the visit. The journey of Kerry aims, first, to create a positive climate between the two countries, cracked by the attitude of Pakistan towards the fight against terrorism. According to the U.S., in fact, exist connivance between Taliban forces and important sectors of the bureaucracy and the military especially in Islamabad, with the result of, at least, unconvinced action against the Islamic militias. Washington has proven on more than one occasion to consider Pakistan formally ally of the United States, an unreliable partner. Applies to all the action in Pakistani territory that led to the death of Osama bin Laden. However, despite these suspicions, the geopolitical position of the Asian country, plays a fundamental importance in the regional chessboard and above all functional requirements associated with the withdrawal of American troops from Afghanistan. For Washington, it is important that the relationship between Kabul and Islamabad is transformed by mutual distrust in a close and constant liaison, outside of the rivalries that divide the two neighboring countries. For this goal will also be crucial the result of the upcoming elections to be held in Afghanistan, but American diplomacy will still get ahead and ensure the collaboration of the new Pakistani government, headed by Nawaz Sharif. The United States must convince Islamabad to put more conviction and intensify the fight against terrorism overseeing the impenetrable valleys on the border with Afghanistan to prevent a re-affirmation of the Taliban movement after the withdrawal of U.S. troops. This possibility, in spite of the aforementioned Pakistani connivance of the administration, does not agree too in Islamabad, which is likely to see increased fundamentalism in the country and have as close a nation can strongly influence the more radical impulses. If Kerry will be able to bring back from the United States effectively the country of Pakistan, American soldiers will leave Afghanistan with greater peace of mind.
