The reasons for the peace and the need for armed intervention

While the Syrian opposition is confused by the behavior of the United States , there should be a reflection on the real consequences of a failure to sanction military action against Assad can produce on the international scene and in some countries , which could interpret the behavior of Washington as a sort of go-ahead for a large-scale rearmament , especially relative to non-conventional weapons , such as chemical of interest the debate. If it is obvious that the aversion to war is a natural condition in Western populations , we must also reflect on what attitude to adopt in the presence of blatant injustice , which constitute the violation of rules of international law and humanitarian law. The massacres , also practiced with conventional weapons , which are not less harmful than non-conventional use of chemical agents, whose deterrence should worry the entire totality of the planet , are arguments in front of which pacifism to the bitter end is likely to be complicity with the dictator of the moment . The principle of non-interference in the affairs of states can not always valid when producing situations that generate deaths and refugees , should be a duty, first of all the UN , then the nations in which democracy is consolidated , action to address the most urgent situations . Of course diplomacy, explicated in all its forms , must take precedence , but without any effect produced by vertices, meetings or even penalties , you can not insist to stall indefinitely. While you can clearly understand the reasons for those protesters or those parliaments that reject absolutely the military action , we can not grasp also the basic contradiction that this attitude generates, ie the persistence of phenomena, often against defenseless population , which are in sharp contrast with the will to peace basis for the refusal of sanction armed . Then it is very disconcerting to see which , being the only alternative solution is proposed : a diplomatic action useless, because overtaken by events , which remains as a mere formal exercise activities . Even the possible consequences that can be perceived by those who were once referred to as " rogue states" , which aim to blackmail the world with the threat to acquire more and more weapons , should be evaluated more thoroughly by pacifism at all costs . Allowing a country like Syria with impunity uses weapons that have been banned from most of the states of the world body , is to open an important precedent for other similar cases that may occur in the future. While the democratic system of the western states , and rightly discusses what to do , making up for the deficiency in the institutional and organizational structure of the United Nations , the massacres go on , despite the pacifism at any cost condemning morally , no other power to do, this situation also dictated from unpleasant past experiences, where the U.S. has just mishandled the situation , also leads to assessments of an economic nature , however, the danger of falling , as has already happened in part , in a devaluation of the international prestige of the United States and also the EU , should be carefully evaluated equally , for the obvious negative consequences that entails. The move by Obama to engage the U.S. Congress is a final attempt to have a legitimacy to exit the deadlocks of the American president. It is , from the point of view of the exercise of democracy, a decision flawless , allowing Assad to gain more time and frustrating the hopes of the opponents who are fighting to establish democratic rules , while for others the hesitancy American is a confirmation of the unreliability of the stars and stripes. These feelings that are maturing represent one of the biggest defeats American , because the uncertainty of Obama looks like a betrayal , coming from the main source in which he had placed hope. Even the time frame that separates the vote of the U.S. Congress , closed for vacation until September 9 , must appear as incomprehensible to those who are waiting for an urgent decision and fights under the relentless bombardment of artillery Assad. If we in the West we are struggling , often unsuccessfully , to understand the dynamics that develop in the Arab countries, where often it has gone from a dictatorship to a secular form of religious form , although supported by the popular vote , must be equally difficult to understand of those who are fighting for and receive help to be expected that some folks fall from vacation . The figure of the U.S. certainly becomes grotesque , with the obvious distortion of a democratic practice , what we wanted to export , enslaved to unreasonable deadlines , if compared to the importance of the issue. So Syria has resumed its arrogant attitude of the best days , justified by the Western divisions and the slowness of procedures, which give him valuable time.
