Egypt approves new constitution
The victory of the will , which thus allowed the approval of the new Egyptian constitution , there is a clear success for the government, but not a defeat , as called for by the opposition forces, especially of a religious nature . The result in favor of acceptance of the new fundamental law , in the calculation of the voters , despite having reached about 98% , is of little significance , because it was taken for granted and that 2 % against the vote serves to legitimize itself . The question was , however, the percentage of voters who would have gone to the polls . Elections earlier this figure had stood at around 33 % and this value represented the minimum threshold for not delegitimize the vote , according to the Egyptian government . Although this is a very low figure by Western standards , the determination of the Egyptian electorate to express themselves is very poor for the origin by the previous regime and the lack of trust in the political system because of the failure to resolve the economic problems faced by the country and furthermore the exclusion from political life of the Muslim Brotherhood has further lowered the threshold of potential voters , both for team orders , both for dissent with the armed forces that drive the executive. So the figure of 33% represented a benchmark below which the session referendum would represent a failure and would have provided an opportunity for opponents to delegitimize the constitutional charter . The rate of voter participation , however, albeit slightly , increased to 36% , which may allow the government to speak of popular approval reached. However, it is a fact that the new Egyptian constitution , it is not shared in a comprehensive manner , is being contested by the opposition confessional , that parties who wanted a greater emphasis on civil and political rights and advocated an absence of standards in favor of the armed forces . Even among those who voted in favor , one should understand what is the real weight of those who adopted the Constitution , not fully convinced, but considering it a lesser evil and still a step ahead of those who wanted to impose sharia as the basic law . Certainly card processing has been the subject of negotiations that involved compromises , except for the rules that benefit the military, taxes just by the military, and overturn the constitutional system , which was to have a footprint more libertarian and that, therefore , comes too conditioned by the limits imposed by the armed forces . On the other hand, the army has repeatedly demonstrated the strength to be more certain of Egypt , both the good and the bad , managing to guide the country out of the Mubarak dictatorship , but also out of the subsequent dictatorship of the majority religious who was bringing the country far behind. Imposition of rules that strengthen the military power there was the desire to preserve the position of the armed forces of any other drifts , but in doing so , the country remains under the protection of the military that stands guarantor , but also controller , of the institutional Egyptian . This , which is a substantial victory for the executive , can now be transformed into the hall election as President of the country 's general Al Sissi, strongman of the government, for which we predict victory is now easier. The eventual election of a man of the armed forces should be to close the circle of the project of the military to occupy permanently the Government of the transformation of the country , however, the problem religious opposition , with such an eventuality should re- escalation in the country and the states of tension that led to the fall of Mubarak . One decisive turning point in the economy of the country, marked by a strong spread of wealth , even among the lower social strata and more responsive to the calls of the Muslim Brotherhood , to be achieved through an increase in the average quality of life can avert this danger ; but it is easier to take the power to maintain it, as the story of Mursi showed.
