The European Union will send a military force to the Central African Republic
The European Union is close to send a military force , consisting of several hundred men, who can at least to secure the airport in Bangui in the Central African Republic. The purpose is to protect the approximately 100,000 displaced persons who have found shelter in the structure and to ensure , at the same time , the operation . This solution will enable the French contingent , consisting of 1,600 men , to be employed in other tasks in the difficult situation of the country. The European decision is making its way through the bureaucratic definition of the preparation of a concept of crisis management , a useful tool for future eventualities , which is managed by the organization which can be defined as the one closest to a Foreign Ministry Community . The procedure involves a decision taken by the twenty-eight foreign ministers of the EU, operational modalities to be agreed in detail. The formal procedure requires unanimous approval , which must also have the support of the Security Council of the United Nations . It will not be an operation in a big way , but limited in scope , with an employment of men in a planned quantity of between 300 and 500 units , which will operate under the banner of the European Union , in a limited time and enough defined , with a maximum duration of ten weeks. This deployment of resources will have to be supported by the contributions of individual members of the EU. The accession of Poland and Belgium has already secured provided that the operation is carried out within a European framework and well established on this basis , Brussels expects membership operating in other countries. The European military force should operate in harmony with the African military force , or alternatively with a UN mission . A further development of European intervention could then relate to the control of the western part of the Central African Republic, to guard the lines of communication with Cameroon , considered highly strategic , however, this mission would result in any more effort, because it should provide for the use of at least 1,000 men. Beyond the scope of the mission , which remains , for now, limited, it is important to emphasize its symbolic value because it marks an intervention in a crisis zone of a force expression of the European Union . The use of military forces in critical scenarios , with the aim of bringing to calm a situation degenerated into violence , has become a necessity in diplomatic practice for some time. If the European Union wants to have a major role in the international arena will intensify these interventions , which require first of all a quick bureaucratic organization capable of allowing the organizational effort that requires the commitment . The drafting of regulatory practices , which may also be of customary nature , will allow a faster handling issues that may arise in the future . Moreover, the use of soldiers EU will be essential to promote integration , both diplomatic and military, in view of increasing unit . That said, it is also necessary to point out that Europe, in the future will increasingly need to act in a unified manner for reasons of self-defense . In fact, the instability of the African continent is not likely to be resolved easily and the proximity to the European continent requires a particular attention to the EU and in stemming the crisis that circumscribing may also have direct effects on its territory. Finally, a military unit of the EU countries will also allow control practices and more effective repression against the growing weight of international terrorism, Islamic but not limited to , think of the phenomenon of large organizations of the underworld , to become an international phenomena that will require increasing contrast media.
