Obama reiterated his doctrine in foreign policy
Barack Obama confirmed that the U.S. will remain the leading country in the world , the nation is essential for world stability , but that can no longer base its leadership position in the only military aspect , as has happened in the last century , but will focus on diplomacy and , above all, cooperation with other nations . An important aspect of this strategy should be to the exclusion of unilateral actions at the international level , so as not to appear as a hegemonic power , but it will be interesting to see how this will be implemented in the most urgent cases that are likely to affect the exclusive national interest. Beyond the contingent considerations , the intervention of the president of the USA Academy at West Point was a confirmation of the so-called Obama doctrine in the international arena , which has aroused much controversy at home , coming for the most part , by the Republican Party , but not limited . The expansion of China, the U.S. withdrawal from Iraq and Afghanistan after long and bloody wars , which have ultimately led to great results , the restlessness of Russia, which has invaded a foreign state by altering the regional balance , the uncertain outcome of the war Syria , which are likely to promote Islamic extremism , are all topics that are held up as examples to disprove the course of action desired by Obama's foreign policy , which deviates less cautious attitude taken by previous presidents. But considerations of the factors influencing the address of the current American president depart from the observation that in the new global order the greatest dangers depart from terrorist groups , rather than by the states ; This is only partially true because often behind the actions of these movements there are governmental entities that use smaller formations not to declare war explicitly. This methodology requires a military confrontation less resource-intensive , both for those attacks, and for those who must defend himself : in this scenario assumes greater importance intelligence work and the use of non-traditional weaponry , because controlled remotely , such as drones. The increased importance of international law, even if it is often violated , requires a continuous dialogue and close cooperation between the states , which leads to an increase in the value and importance for diplomatic action . This meaning must be understood in a much broader sense of how it has been practiced until now, in fact, fall into this action, not only of the business relationship between the states , but also practical parallel . A very important example is given by the conduct of the U.S. in Syria, where it was decided not to intervene directly , but providing material aid to the rebels , reaching a maximum at a given military training. These actions serve to create a network of consent to the USA , that began long ago , but it has to bring the forces deemed reliable to the American administration , without the imposition of democracy by force of arms , as happened in Iraq . What Washington needs to avoid a dangerous isolationism is where the United States may be restricted by the international community due to the excessive interventionism . The U.S. always want to lead the world , but in different ways and with an approach that involves the allied countries equally. This choice could be interpreted as a sign of weakness of American power , but the opposite is true : only with a cooperation of the United States shared the reasons may be accepted ; This certainly implies a greater effort at mediation, which should , however, eliminate the conflicts and frictions that are generated by the autocratic decisions of the United States . One aspect where Obama seems oblivious to the perception that this policy is seen by many U.S. citizens : an image of weakness that could be detrimental to the U.S. , however, this soft approach just serves to give an image of quiet strength , which must cancel negative view , still present in the world, especially in developing countries , of American imperialism.
