Strained relations between Afghanistan and the United States
The relations between the U.S. administration and Afghan President Karzai, are increasingly tense. The highest office in Kabul, has never seen willingly the intention of Obama to a phasing out of the U.S. armed forces from the territory of the country of Afghanistan, Karzai knows the difficulties that the Afghan army will face to face the Taliban , and the degree of preparation of the soldiers that compose it. The immediate consequence that the Afghan president sees this deep insecurity, which will further increase with the final departure of the U.S. contingent in 2014, is their own survival, not only political but also physical. Karzai, from the beginning of his term of office has escaped attacks and is in constant danger and his brother, which were never clarified the role and position in Afghan society, was killed in an ambush. With his last statement Karzai, who has accused the Taliban of being at the service of Washington, raises the level of intentional verbal confrontation. The suspicion of the highest office in Afghanistan is that there are secret negotiations going on between the U.S. and the Taliban, who left the government out of Kabul. If this were true fears of Karzai would be legitimate, since the departure of the U.S. military, Washington would have agreed a future scenario of the country without the current ruling class. The prospect seems unlikely, however, Obama has no interest in establishing relations with the Islamic extremist right now that is leaving the country, also the repeated attempts in recent times have not led to any results, so these do not justify a prior commitment current, which requires a program that does not seem to fall between the planes of foreign policy of the new U.S. administration. The strategy Karzai seems, rather, to force the United States to renew their commitment in Afghanistan, blaming, in front of national public opinion, the responsibility of a future season of violence and instability, which have already been opened with the recent attacks explosives. It must be said that fears of Karzai are not unfounded, however, the real capacity of the local armed forces does not seem able to withstand a possible Taliban offensive, the Army also is grappling with the problem of infiltrators that affect the complete loyalty of the apparatus defensive. Karzai's fears to be seen, however, not only from the point of view of domestic politics in Afghanistan, but also to the possible impact on the phenomenon of international terrorism. Even if it has not explicitly said Karzai is afraid of being sacrificed because of a secret agreement between the U.S. and the Taliban, where in exchange for power on Afghanistan Islamic militants undertake not to become a basis for religious terrorism. It is a remote hypothesis, because that is not supported by any guarantee as mentioned on the previous relationship between the two parties, however, the stiffening of the will to leave the country by the U.S., may result in the government of Kabul, hypothesis that border on the low likelihood. Moreover, the official U.S. position, on any relations with the Taliban is that they must be carried out exclusively by the representatives of its Government of Afghanistan. Compounding the situation between the two countries, there is a real need of full cooperation on the part of the state of Afghanistan, they need the U.S. military to complete its withdrawal. Without the logistical support as well as local military, moving the large amount of men and material is exceedingly difficult. This could be the most convincing argument for Karzai to rip more than the small contingents of inquiry referred to.
