Iran and the U.S. begin the dialogue

Even without the symbolic gesture of the handshake between the presidents of Iran and the U.S. , the thaw between the two countries is becoming a more concrete possibility . The availability announced by Rohani to iron out differences over the nuclear age-old question , by the desire to inaugurate a new course in their bilateral relations with the United States , appears as an element that would allow positive developments. This assumption is also essential for a broader discussion that concerns and involves aspects of geopolitical balance , in which the two countries are protagonists on opposing sides. Iran needs to no longer pose a threat to the world and is ready to participate in negotiations that define their position regarding the use of atomic energy for civilian purposes , it is equally important for the U.S. to reach an agreement with a state that has always been perceived as a threat to world peace and U.S. interests . In short , although from different sides , both countries need to loosen the tension that exists between them and that lasts since 1979 , the year of the Islamic revolution that has made the country the Iranian theocracy . President Obama has acknowledged that such a process , after more than thirty years of deep aversion and lack of communication , it can not be fast, because they will be overcome mutual distrust , but the resolution of the nuclear issue , which has become the biggest obstacle to dialogue can foster a climate that will allow mutual respect and the protection of their interests , framed in a peaceful atmosphere . Always been a priority policy of Tehran is just the mutual recognition both in absolute terms and in terms of international contingent view of the break is located in Iran. The result of the recent Iranian elections has encouraged a more positive attitude on the part of the United States , which no longer intend to take the solution of the overthrow of Iran's institutions , but to seek a common solution that can lead to respect for the rights of the people of the Asian country , also recognizing his right , more than legitimate , to use nuclear energy as a mere choice of industrial policy , apart, however, from any military ambitions . He has helped foster this attitude also the position of religious power , which remains the one with more influence , which condemned , through a fatwa of the Supreme Leader of Iran , Ali Khamenei , the use of nuclear weapons. The U.S. considers a number of years the problem of relations with Iran and the Palestinian issue the two major problems of international politics, if the first could start, if not a definitive conclusion , towards a détente that would allow to cool tensions , a victory for Obama would be very significant . This may start road on which the bilateral diplomatic relations could have a positive effect on the Syrian issue , where diplomacy could regain significant importance for the definition of the conflict, towards a pacification , however, difficult to achieve, especially in the short term .
