Iraq hit by attacks

The attacks in recent days in Iraq, where Shiites were affected sites , but also Kurds, representing the evolution of the discontent of the Sunni minority increasingly ridden by extremists of Al Qaeda. With the end of the rule of Saddam Hussein, who assured the Sunni minority in the country of Iraq , the government and the coverage of key posts within the state , the power went to the Shiite majority , which has operated a policy of repression , almost vindictive against Sunnis . Ever since the American presence the two ethnic groups have converted bad relations existing in episodes of mutual hostility often resulted in violence. The abandonment of U.S. troops has left a gap even greater for those who point to the destabilization of a state , which could reach the planned 2014 elections in deeply critical conditions . Since the beginning of the month , in fact, the dead were 870, while the victims were from the beginning of the year more than 4,700 . Only yesterday twelve car bombs have exploded , which caused 47 deaths and at least 140 injured . The methods of the attacks follow now a definite pattern , which involves the almost simultaneous explosion of bombs placed in strategic places and always very popular , such as mosques , soccer fields , clinics and markets. The intention is to leave the country in a state of deep terror in order to paralyze him . These figures and operating methods typical of an area clearly in the war and this needs to be identified , such as civil war , the current situation in Iraq . The mixture between the Sunni insurgent groups and al Qaeda is clear , the terrorist organization focuses more and more, as its strategy to gain the sympathies Sunni , strong project to create a set of caliphates where to establish Islamic law as a basic rule adjustment of the right . On this basis, the situation in Iraq is beginning to have with the Syrian , heavy analogies : the governments in power are related to ethnicity and growth are characterized by heavy weakness that causes a sense of general instability in the two countries , certainly the situation in Baghdad overall is not yet degenerated as in the Syrian theater , however the degree of attrition carried out by Sunni radicals , which find fertile ground in the general discontent of the Sunni population , discriminated against by the majority government growth , can potentially lead to a particularly serious evolution , which is not may not have an impact on the attitude of some international actors of great political weight. It is difficult in fact, rule out some form of Iranian intervention to protect a government with which you are hooking up an increasingly close relationship , accrued due to the common origin growth . On the other hand it seems , is more difficult to involve the Sunni states of the Persian Gulf , except perhaps in a more attenuated Qatar , the heavy involvement of Al Qaeda. Saudi Arabia fears the spread of fundamentalist movements , which could be a major source of disturbance , both in the Middle East , which widen its influence to surrounding countries . One of the effects of repeated attacks and the climate of instability are heavy migration of the two ethnic groups within the country, to areas where the local laws , both ethnic and religious majority is , to reduce the chances of falling victim to attacks indiscriminate . The situation worries the international scene , because of the fear of an implosion of the Iraqi state , which could kick off the terrible consequences of the Syrian type . For this reason, both the U.S. , the United Nations , condemning the attacks , have asked the government of Prime Minister Nuri al - Maliki to adopt reforms to avoid further marginalization of the Sunnis, who could promote even more massive , the recruitment of terrorists operating in the ranks of Al Qaeda. Iraq still lives like a sad chapter in its history , caused by myopia Western , who has not had the courage to divide the country into three , area growth , Sunni and Kurdish area , after the intervention against Saddam Hussein, a measure that would have averted a forced coexistence which is causing an internal conflict , the outcome of which is far from any forecast .
