Baghdad gets closer to the Kurds to contain the advance of the Sunni militiamen

The advance of the army of the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant to the Kurdish areas, has led to a rapprochement between Baghdad and the authorities in Iraqi Kurdistan. Prime Minister Nouri Al Maliki ordered the Iraqi air force would provide help from heaven against the advance of the Kurdish peshmerga militiamen Sunni fighters, exhausted from fighting for the defense of the Kurdish territory. The two parties, which while remaining formally allied against Sunni militiamen in recent times have moved away, over allegations of Iraqi Prime Minister towards the Kurds; charges that relate to an excessive detachment from the central authorities, to form an autonomous state entity taking advantage of the chaos in the country. The Kurds already enjoy a large degree of autonomy and manage the huge earnings from oil wells on their territory, but aim at the creation of their own state. To Baghdad is necessary that the integrity of Iraqi Kurdistan is not violated for the benefit of the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant, which has already subtracted the different regions to state sovereignty. The economic importance of the oil wells in the area would give the Iraqi Kurdish economic power can increase exponentially the possibilities for advanced followers of jihad, making them practically invincible in the face of armed forces in Baghdad; it is a possibility not only harmful for the regional balance, but also for the world, since the international landscape would face a state at the mercy of a terrorist movement. The issue involves several variables, including the role of the USA and also that of the countries of the Persian Gulf, but, more urgent than Iran, which would see directly threatened its security on its borders, in case of a fall of the Kurds. Tehran has repeatedly threatened to intervene in defense of the Iraqi Shia, object, like Christians of a fierce discrimination by Sunni militants. The relative calm demonstrated by Iran is the work American diplomat, but if it were to materialize closer the Sunni threat, analysts do not rule out a direct involvement of the Iranian armed forces, also because of the ties with the current leadership of the country Iraq to the common faith growth. On the Earth's field the Iraqi army has been shown to be less than the militia of the Islamic state of Iraq and the Levant, which enjoy the support of the Sunni population and members of the Baath Party, the political movement of Saddam Hussein, who was active especially in Sunni provinces, however, the role of air power, not yet fully used, it can be determined in order to reverse the forces dllo Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant. But if the Air Force can stop the advance of extremist Sunnis, the Iraqi armed forces lack the training and determination to maintain control of the territory. Of course with the help of aviation this can happen in Kurdistan, which has a ground force trained and well-rooted in the territory, which with the help of the sky can be hard to beat; This becomes the first and most urgent goal of Al Maliki, who must prevent at all costs the conquest of Kurdistan, which point from which to start to regain the country's sovereignty. Certainly stop the advance of the Kurdish territory is not sufficient, but guarantees a kind of bearing and, above all, prevents the Sunni radicals of reinforcing economically. The problem remains, however, to regain lost ground, for this purpose it is difficult to imagine that this is possible without outside help come to a redistribution of power in favor of the more moderate Sunnis, kept away from the control centers of the country. An Iranian intervention on a large scale is to be excluded, especially in Sunni areas, where the Scythians, however, are not well seen; Tehran could only come into play if it is threatened as a result of a fall of the Kurds, which would lead to the advance of the jihadis on the border with Iran. Obama has repeatedly stressed that a return of American troops on Iraqi soil is not part of the plans of the White House; American armed forces are already collaborating with Baghdad but only through the use of drones, while what is needed is a ground force capable of controlling the territory in a lockout. A contact potential to provide support in this direction could be the Saudi Arabia, including the Arab League, if the power were to be redistributed in favor of the more moderate Sunnis. This condition is satisfied only Saudi Arabia could think of some form of intervention, because it is not certain interest of Riyadh, have on its borders radical movements that could infect the inhabitants of the Saudi monarchy. In fact, precisely to avoid this possibility, Saudi Arabia has deployed a large number of soldiers to the border of Iraq. Meanwhile, the situation of civilians is worsening more and more and many people are forced to leave their homes to avoid the violence imposed by radical Sunnis. Especially religious minorities are persecuted, like the Christians of Mosul, also places of worship and Christians, that the Scythians, were subject to destruction. The exasperation of the population, however, has produced motions of reaction, which resulted in the establishment of self-defense groups against the radical Sunni signal which adds uncertainty to the development of the situation.
