Pakistan expels Save the Children from the village

Behind the closure of the NGO "Save the Children" in Pakistan shake the undeclared war between Islamabad and Washington. Between the two countries, formally allies, relations have deteriorated by time, for serious suspicion of collaboration between parties of the Pakistani intelligence services and parts of the fundamentalist Islamic terrorism, particularly with the Afghan Taliban, who take refuge in the valleys on the border between the two states, to the links with Al Qaeda. The US has long considered not reliable Pakistan and the greatest test was the operation conducted on the territory of Islamabad, which led to the physical elimination of Osama Bin Laden. The American action, which took place outside of any customary international law, has raised protests Pakistani, but also stressed that the US suspicions were not unfounded. Since that time the relations between the two countries have deteriorated and the government of Pakistan, which has never recognized its responsibility, has waged a war to thwart the activities of Western NGOs, accusing them of espionage in favor of exercise US. In particular, "Save the Children" has been accused, through the indictment and subsequent detention of a Pakistani doctor, to have taken an active part in the preparation of the raid that decreed the death of the leader of Al Qaeda. The Pakistani government has not accounted on the closure of the organization and informed the responsible foreigners to leave the country within 15 days. Islamabad has not given any official version, while it would seem that there is an unofficial version, which speaks of anti Pakistan by "Save the Children". The organization carries out its activities in the Asian country for over 35 years, with 1,200 employees, through close collaboration with the country's institutions in the field of access to education, the improvement of public services in the health and nutrition of children ; last year no less than 4 million children have been reached by the organization, which has filled the vacuum left by public institutions. The attitude of Pakistan, he explains, then, as a retaliation against the Americans, who will, however, suffer direct on the poorest inhabitants of the country, to which Islamabad fails to provide adequate assistance. If the side effects of bad relations between the two states will evolve in this direction, this can create a dangerous precedent, applicable in other situations or directed against other organizations operating in the country, creating a scenario very serious for international collaboration and deprivation a range of services for the general population.
