The situation of Syrian refugees is increasingly untenable
After five years of war, the situation in Syria is getting worse. A worry is the internal situation, that one of the escape constant that has generated more than four million refugees. Of
all the people who fled the horrors of war, the major part is in
Turkey, which in its refugee camps welcomed a million and eight hundred
thousand people, while the remainder is divided between Lebanon, Iraq,
Jordan, Egypt and other countries in Africa Northern. All
this without counting those who try to reach Europe, undergoing extreme
trips, which feed the market of speculators on migrants and who often
find death at sea after untold hardships. The
course of the conflict may raise the number of those fleeing from the
Syrian town of more than 200,000 people by the end of 2015, especially
if there will be an advance of the Islamic state. This
state of affairs leads to a situation of collapse of the refugee camps
and in the same countries that host them: the limiting case is Lebanon
where one person in four is a migrant. The
conditions of the fields amount to situations that lead to the level of
poverty the condition of the Syrians in the camps from Jordan this
value is around 86% of the people who pay in absolute poverty. The
refugees have often fled with few belongings from their homes and are
forced to deal with completely new situations and negative without the
necessary support, both material and moral. The
situation of promiscuity fields favors phenomena criminals, sanitation
and hygiene very poor and even episodes of conflict between Syrian
belonging to different factions. The
major problems of the management of the camps, however, are created by
the serious financial shortage, which does not allow to ensure the
totality of the refugees also types of aid essential to life itself. Often they require painful choices on helping. International
aid covered only a small part of the needs, estimated in 24% of the
overall need, what determines, in addition to the serious situation and
fields, even instability of the regions that host them. Special
attention should be paid to the situation of children, who often do not
come to have secured the minimum conditions of survival, in addition to
not have access to educational programs and even psychological
conditions, particularly severe, contributing to the worsening of the
general condition. It
is estimated that the reductions of food, caused by the lack of aid and
the intolerable burden for national governments to manage the
situation, have affected at least one and a half million refugees and
this gave a sufficient explanation of why they were overshadowed aspects such as education and psychological assistance. However also the situation in the country appears dramatic. Estimates
speak of over seven and a half million people who have not been able
yet to escape and bearing, in addition to the sanitary conditions
similar to those of refugees, the pressure to live with the constant
war: bombing or the explosive barrels 'Assad's use of chemical weapons or gratuitous violence of the militia of the caliphate. This
scenario is particularly serious and sad is not yet sufficient to reach
an agreement of international powers and international organizations to
find some solution to the conflict, which hit the bulk of the victims
civilians. Once
again the responsibility of those who became unprepared are obvious, as
are those who speculate about the war to strengthen its geopolitical
positions. When,
if ever, will the war in Syria the scope of the tragedy will remain as a
warning to uselessness of international bodies and the cowardice of
those who do not want to risk an intervention in time that would have
greatly limited the tragedies so far still far from completed.
