The militarization of Japan worries the Japanese pacifists
Japan
is going through a wave of peace in relation to the purposes of his
prime minister, who intends to modify, in the legislative sense, the
possibility of expanding the scope of military force. The
Japanese constitution, drafted after the tragic events of Hiroshima and
Nagasaki in Japan has maintained a sort of pacifism tends to preserve
the country from any possible military drift, which may involve new
wars. In
much of the population it is still alive aversion to possible outbreaks
militarist, for fear of repetition of the tragic events that followed
the outbreak of nuclear weapons. One
of the worst fears, especially in a period of history, which sees the
resumption of nuclear weapons in various parts of the world, is made
just from the danger of incurring a new nuclear war. The proximity of the Japanese country with China and North Korea, only adds to the anxiety of Japanese citizens in this regard. What one fears, in general, it is that it can take power an executive wishing to use force to settle international issues. It
must be recalled that Japan is at the center of disputes with China
over the ownership of some islands, important in terms of strategic and
energy, and over again, especially during periods of higher voltage, it
is an accident nearly occurred military. In
addition to a general discussion, the concern is palpable because of
the current executive led by Shinzo Abe, who has repeatedly expressed
militaristic tendencies and has a high rate compared with Beijing, about
regional supremacy. Although
we started from a competing economic, the atmosphere between the two
countries worsened for economic reasons, as the aforementioned problem
of the sovereignty of the islands and for historical reasons, due to the
lack of an apology from the Japanese government to the victims of war
Chinese , because of the growing nationalism that distinguishes the Tokyo government. Relations
with Beijing are tense for the continued run-up arms that China is
making, investing large amounts of money to make its forces more and
more equipped, as shown in the recent parade, celebrating their victory
over Japan. In
much of Japanese society there is a concrete fear that widening the
possibilities of military intervention, Japan enters into a dangerous
spiral, without even contemplating the possibility of a new nuclear war.
Last
Sunday were about 120,000 people who demonstrated outside the Japanese
parliament to express their disapproval about the intentions of the
Japanese Prime Minister, which could be approved later this month. Under
the proposal the subject of dispute, the Japanese armed forces may
participate in international missions of the United Nations and to
exercise the defense in collaboration with another ally, the more likely
the United States, a traditional ally of the country, a change that is
seen as potentially dangerous the stability of the country. The
reform of the Japanese Prime Minister could then encounter legal
obstacles, as, according to several legal experts, would be clearly
contrary to the provisions of the country's pacifist constitution, which
should first be modified to conform the proposed militarist .
