The financial war of the United States to the State Islamic
The war on the Islamic state, defined as the best-funded terrorist organization in the world, can not pass only through the military way, but must contemplate an action that would cut off the flow of money, which allow the caliphate to continue the conflict. Moreover, the big difference with Al Qaeda is its ability to exploit a range of financial instruments, far beyond the sun donations. Basically there are three levers that the Islamic state uses for its own funding: the sale of oil, the proceeds from criminal activity, such as redemptions, robbery, human trafficking, and collection of taxes imposed on the population invaded and finally donations. The American strategy has identified the following tools to prevent the arrival of funding: destruction of infrastructure for the extraction and refining of crude oil, by means of aerial bombardment, the limitation of the possibilities of the sale of oil, which, it is estimated, allows the 'proceeds of about a million dollars a day, limiting the ability of money management, through surveys can freeze bank deposits and impose significant penalties on those who trade and provides financial aid under. The scheme, apart from the use of the weapon air, more or less mirrors that of international sanctions, which has resulted in successes against Iran and Russia. However, since there is no official relations with the Islamic state credit institutions and commercial, the path of cash flows is more difficult to track down, but, on the other hand, once identified, the entity to be pursued is easier to subject it to sanctions because of the illegal nature of his relationship with the caliphate. The action relates, in the first place, the banks and financial institutions, to stop the flow of money to the origin. In the focus of the United States, the proceeds from the sale of oil, have been serving brokers, refiners, retailers and transport companies, which allow the product to crude or refined by the Islamic state to export it to buyers, in turn, also possible victims of further economic sanctions. The destination of the crude oil of the Caliphate is one of the major problems that can not but make us reflect on the dynamics of the conflict: the organization is based on the work of a very extensive network of smugglers who export crude oil in Turkey, a country that belongs to the alliance against the caliphate, but also in Iraqi Kurdistan, fighting on the ground the military forces of the Islamic state, which in turn sells it on the foreign market, until you get to Assad's Syria, which is also engaged militarily against the fundamentalists. As for the political aspect, even that statement shows the boundaries very unstable and certainly not unique, the real intention of fighting the caliphate, constituting yet another factor of difficulty for the United States, in extricating in a variety of conflicting interests and precarious balance , which does not help the action against the jihadists. In terms of contributions, the main culprits were the countries of the Persian Gulf monarchies, which have shown a different attitude towards the repression of the phenomenon; while the United States recognize the right of Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates to be ahead with the action taken to stop the donations, not as Qatar and Kuwait, which have yet to improve their repressive action. In terms of kidnappings, a chapter which allows a lower gain, but so far estimated at about 20 million dollars, the American line is that of firmness, but, despite the exhortations to other states to adopt the same line, not all have following Washington, preferring to pay the ransom to save its citizens. The United States is aware of the financial resources of the Islamic state, but also the high costs that it must incur to carry on the war: this is a drop in revenue as a weapon is seen as decisive in the defeat of the caliphate.
